Born in Lebanon Bechara Moufarrej is one of the few singers to pursue an operatic career outside the country. Following his masters degree in Music he undertook further study in Italy, joined the opera studio in his native Beirut and recently completed his training at the National Opera Studio in London. He continues to study with Vittorio Terranova.

Bechara has collaborated with the Lebanese Philharmonic Orchestra, the Filarmonica Romana and the Orchestra Giovanile Italiana under the baton of conductors Gianluca Marcianò, Toufik Maatouk, Lubnan Baalbaki, Harout Fazilian, Alberto Maniaci and Nicola Pascovski.

Opera engagements include Alfredo La Traviata for the Serbian National Theatre, Rodolfo La Bohème for Clonter Opera, Don Jose Carmen at the Cirque d’Hiver in Paris, Rodolfo La Boheme with the Qatar Philharmonic, Alfredo La Traviata and Il Duca Rigoletto with members of the Cairo Philharmonic / David Crecensi as well as Ferrando Cosi fan tutte and Conte d’Almaviva Il Barbiere di Siviglia in a collaboration between the Antonine University in Beirut, the Lebanese Conservatory and the Al Bustan Festival. He has sung Almaviva at the Teatro Giulio di Lucca, Teatro Goldoni, Livorno, Teatro Verdi in Pisa and Teatro Coccia in Novara.

Concert performances include Haydn Nelson Mass, Rossini Stabat Mater and Petite Messe Solennelle; Mozart Requiem and Masses; Donizetti Messa di Gloria, Gounod St Cecilia Mass, Verdi Requiem and Messa di Gloria; Puccini Messa di Requiem.

Bechara recently recorded Nessun Dorma for Classic FM’s Classics You Know series with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. He is a Principal Tenor with the Serbian National Theatre where his roles include Alfredo La Traviata, Il Duca Rigoletto and Rodolfo La bohème.
