DAVID HILL TAKES UP NEW POST

David Hill will take up his appointment as the Chief Conductor of The BBC Singers with a performance at the BBC Proms on September 4. Hill will direct the group for Domenico Scarlatti’s Stabat Mater and Britten’s Hymn to St Cecilia.

...praise must go to David Hill who has cast his usual magic spell to produce yet another disc of superb choral singing.

Gramophone, February 2007

The attached flyer gives details of his other activities with The BBC Singers in September and October.

The season’s other engagements include the world premiere of Carl Rütti’s Requiem with The Bach Choir and The Southern Sinfonia in Winchester Cathedral, the first performance of Philip Wilby’s Bronte Mass with The Leeds Philharmonic Chorus and The Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra. Hill will make début appearances with the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra and Chorus conducting John Tavener’s The Beautiful Names and with the Orchestra and Chorus of Opera North for the St John Passion.
