Cyndia Sieden sings music of time and place

Anna Amalia Library

Cyndia Sieden joins Concerto Köln for a rare production of Anton Schweitzer’s Alceste as part of the celebrations for the re-opening of the Anna Amalia library in Weimar which was badly damaged by fire in 2004. She will add the high coloratura role of Parthenia to her repertoire with performances at the Residenzschloss Weimar on October 23, 24, 27 & 28. The opera, with a libretto bt Christoph Martin Wieland, was first performed in Weimar in 1773. This production by Henrik Müller is conducted by Michael Hofstetter and the work will be recorded for future release.

Walt Disney Concert Hall

Cyndia Sieden will leap forward in the repertory for performances of Esa-Pekka Salonen’s Wing on Wing with the composer conducting the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra for performances on November 1 at The Barbican, London and November 6 in Paris at the Salle Pleyel. Wing on Wing was composed for the inauguration of the Walt Disney Concert Hall where it received its première in 2004.
“New concert halls deserve new music, for they are both expressions of the spirit of their time.”
