NICHOLAS KRAEMER WORKS THE SYSTEM


This summer conductor Nicholas Kraemer will become part of El Sistema, Venezuela’s ground-breaking scheme to provide opportunities for music tuition and orchestral playing for children from deprived backgrounds founded by Dr Antonio Jose Abreu. El Sistema is a network of 180 orchestras and involving 130,000 young people.

Kraemer will spend August working with the Simon Bolivar ‘A’ Orchestra and chorus with a total of 400 performers for a programme comprising Bach Suite No 2, Telemann Concerto for Three Violins, Handel Dixit Dominus followed by Zadok the Priest and Handel Fireworks Music. He will then collaborate with students at a strings course in Merida, at the foot of the Andes, conducting Tchaikovsky Serenade and Elgar Introduction and Allegro

Nicholas Kraemer’s recent engagements have included the BBC Philharmonic, BBC Scottish Symphony, Bergen Philharmonic and Gothenburg Symphony Orchestras. Next season he will make important debuts with The Chicago and Detroit Symphonies.
