biography
Born in Lebanon Bechara Moufarrej is one of the few singers to pursue an operatic career outside the country. Following his Masters degree in Music he undertook study in Italy, joined the opera studio in his native Beirut and completed his training at the National Opera Studio in London.
Bechara has sung Alfredo La Traviata and Il Duca Rigoletto at the Serbian National Theatre, Novi Sad; Rodolfo La Bohème for Clonter Opera; Don Jose Carmen at the Cirque d’Hiver in Paris, as well as Ferrando Cosi fan tutte and Conte d’Almaviva Il Barbiere di Siviglia at the Teatro Giulio di Lucca, Teatro Goldoni, Livorno, Teatro Verdi in Pisa and Teatro Coccia in Novara.
He has appeared at the Al Bustan, Abu Dhabi and Suoni Dal Golfo Festivals and collaborated with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Lebanese Philharmonic Orchestra, Qatar Philharmonic, Filarmonica Romana, Orchestra Giovanile Italiana and Novi Sad Orchestra under the batons of conductors Gianluca Marcianò, Toufik Maatouk, Alberto Maniaci, James Morgan, Toby Purser, Marc Shanaha and Nicola Pascovski.

He recently recorded Nessun Dorma for Classic FM with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra /James Morgan, with the Lebanese Philharmonic he performed Gounod St Cecilia Mass under Toufik Maatouk and Haydn Nelson Mass with Yasmina Sabaah and joined Deborah Voigt for a recital at the Abu Dhabi Festival. Other concert performances include Beethoven Symphony No. 9, Rossini Stabat Mater and Petite Messe Solennelle; Mozart Requiem and Masses; Verdi Requiem and Messa di Gloria; Puccini Messa di Requiem and Donizetti Messa di Gloria.
Following the devastating explosion in Beirut in 2020 Bechara organised a fundraising recording of Fadi Kassis Salam Li Beirut which he performed with the Orchestra of the Bayerische Staatsoper / Toufic Maatouk.
