biography

British soprano Stephanie Hershaw is a member of the Opernstudio at the Landestheater Detmold. She completed her training at the Royal College of Music under the tutelage of Rosa Mannion and Simon Lepper following studies at the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama and the Hochschule für Musik und Theatre, Leipzig with Professor Roland Schubert.

Recent opera engagements include Flora Turn of the Screw, Barbarina Le Nozze di Figaro and Carlotta in Bär – a new work based on the music of Cavalli La Calisto – with Landestheater Detmold. She has sung Amore L’Egisto with Hampstead Garden Opera and Papagena The Magic Flute for Waterperry Opera Festival.

A Leeds Lieder Young Artist and Countess of Munster Recital Artist Stephanie has performed with The Brodsky Quartet as part of the Dante Music Festival and in recital at Leicester Music Festival with her duo partner George Ireland with whom she soon returns to the Reading Minster for a recital of Wolf, Schubert, Massenet, Debussy and Copland. Her other concert engagements include appearances with choral societies and festivals throughout the UK singing Bach, Handel, Haydn and Vaughan Williams.

Stephanie was a Midori Nishiura Scholar at the Royal College of Music and her studies were generously supported by the Mario Lanza Foundation, The Munster Trust Star Award, The Boas Charitable Trust, The Kathleen Trust, The Clemence Charitable Trust and the Josephine Baker Trust.

Her plans include Najade Ariadne auf Naxos, Zerlina Don Giovanni, Romilda Xerxes, Marie in Paul Linke Frau Luna and Kate Pinkerton Madama Butterfly with Landestheater Detmold as well as Celia in Handel Silla with the Northern Opera Group at the Leeds Opera Festival.
