Tenor Hugo Hymas and bass-baritones Tristan Hambleton and Florian Störtz will feature in a spectacular performance of John Tavener’s epic The Veil of the Temple to open the Edinburgh International Festival. They join The Monteverdi Choir alongside The Edinburgh Festival Chorus and National Youth Choir of Scotland under the musical direction of Sophie Jeannin at The Usher Hall on August 2. Tavener’s magnum opus, sung in English, Aramaic, Church Slavonic, Greek & Sanskrit is an heroic eight hours in length.
